Current Position: Post Graduate Trainee @ Mercedes Benz Research and Development India, Bangalore
Journey so far….
After my graduation from Don Bosco College of Engineering, I started preparing for the competitive exam GATE for which I took a year gap and took coaching from ACE Engineering Academy in Hyderabad. After clearing GATE in 2017 I opted to join Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Pune in order to pursue Masters in Technology in Design Engineering. I completed my Master’s thesis titled ‘Processing, Characterization and Mechanical Behaviour of SiC and Al2O3 reinforced Aluminium 6061 Metal Matrix Composites. Also, published a research paper in Manufacturing Review Journal titled Manufacture of Silicon Carbide Reinforced Aluminium 6061 Metal Matrix Composites for enhanced Sliding Wear properties. During my Masters course, I got an opportunity to do internship at Mercedes Benz Research and Development India Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore. During my Internship I got an opportunity to work on CAE tools such as Hypermesh, ABAQUS, and NASTRAN etc. to carry out real time simulations. After undergoing Internship for 9 months it got converted to my current position i.e. Post Graduate Trainee.
Please describe what you do in your current position.
Static Structural Simulations using Different CAE tools
What is your message to the current students?
Message: I would like to give a message to the current engineering students that do smart study rather than too much of hard work. Hard work with Smart work will be more fruitful. Study the current market trends and decide on a path which has a better growth in the upcoming future. Also, knowing automation will add benefits to your profile. If you are interested in the Design Engineering field, learn some CAE tools for Preprocessing (e.g. Hypermesh), Processing (e.g. ABAQUS, ANSYS etc.) and Post processing (e.g. Hyperstudy). Keep your basics clear and keep revising the basics. Also, chose a research oriented project in your final year like material characterization wherein you develop a new material or a composite which is application oriented or any other project like wise. Also, try and publish research papers after your project completion. I would also like to encourage the students not to hold their self back and to participate in technical seminars, conferences, workshops and project competitions. This will increase their confidence and public speaking skills. Also, the students can go for higher studies based on their interested subjects. I would suggest the students to undergo internships during their study tenure so that they can relate the theoretical aspect studied in college to the practical aspect in the industry.
